Dirk Niebel, Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic
Cooperation and Development, stopped today at Vetter’s Ravensburg Vetter South facility
during a regional tour. Vetter is an independent international specialist in the aseptic filling
of drug-delivery systems.
“Innovative, mid-sized companies like Vetter are not only an important engine of the German economy,” said Niebel, “but as successful international players, they make a noteworthy contribution to the development of the global
pharmaceutical market.”
Vetter, whose staff numbers 2,300 in Europe and the US, works with the world’s leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies. The service provider fills syringes, cartridges and vials with innovative drugs that treat a range of diseases, including cancer, multiple sclerosis and
rheumatoid arthritis. Niebel toured the company’s Ravensburg Vetter South, which is considered one of the most advanced manufacturing facilities in the world. In 2007, the year it began operations, the production site received the ‘Facility of the Year Award’ for process innovation and the ‘European Outsourcing Award’ as most improved process/plant/facility.
