Innovative SMEs like Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau SE from Offenburg are not frightened of change, viewing it instead as an opening.

This is how the company scored points during the 27th celebration of the TOP 100 innovation competition. As of 19 June, Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau is officially among the TOP 100. In the rigorous selection process, the company stood out from the competition in Group C (companies with more than 200 employees), especially in the “External Orientation / Open Innovation” category. It is the 8th time that Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau has featured among the top innovators.

When it comes to laboratory equipment, these specialists in temperature control technology are the shooting stars of the US cannabis industry. The eight-time TOP 100 winners recognised the potential of this market early on, thanks to the company’s strong external orientation and close cooperation with customers, potential customers and suppliers in the development of innovations. The company has been benefiting from ist innovative approach since the 1980s when it introduced the revolutionary “Tango” temperature control system, which was of particular interest for use in pharmaceutical manufacturing and research. The Offenburg-based company initiated a “Tango Club”, in which leading Swiss pharmaceutical and chemical companies were represent-ed. “In this way, we got the latest market information directly from the users”, explains Managing Director Daniel Huber.

Just a few years ago the cannabis market was very small. The company co-operated with influencers and insiders who already had an overview of the market. It also broke new ground with ist marketing campaigns, relying on social media channels such as Instagram and contracting renowned artists to design original logos for the company’s presence at the MJBiz marijuana trade fair in Las Vegas. “Our marketing approach is very different here, much cheekier, much more modern. The cannabis industry is a world of its own, and being part of it is great fun”, enthuses Daniel Huber, who is delighted with the massive increase in sales in this sector: Peter Huber Kältemaschinenbau is the market leader in temperature technology, supplying almost all the leading system providers.
