Below are the forthcoming shows that will exhibit Malvern’s pharmaceutical solutions in 2020. Conferences and...
Malvern has announced it will be holding a new webinar to explain the use of electrophoretic light scattering (ELS) to measure the electrophoretic mobility of particles or molecules in a solution.
This measurement is used to determine zeta potential, which is a measure of the electrostatic or charge repulsion / attraction between particles, and is a predictor of emulsion and dispersion stability.
Zeta potential is a function of both the particle surface and the dispersant. It provides information that is critical to formulators during the design of multicomponent products.
In this presentation, Dr Ana Morfesis will discuss the importance of zeta potential measurements for colloidal dispersions and how it is determined using ELS. The webinar will take place on 8 February from 10:30 to 11:30 (Eastern US and Canada time).
Speaker Dr Ana Morfesis is an applications specialist for Malvern Panalytical’s nanometrics product group. She joined Malvern in 1999 and works in conjunction with the Carnegie Mellon University Lab. Ana has a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts. Her area of research has been colloid and surface chemistry since the early 1980s.
Who should attend?
Anyone who is working with or interested in ELS or zeta potential and would like an overview of the technique and its applications would find the webinar beneficial.
What will you learn?
You will learn how electrophoresis is measured and how zeta potential is calculated. You will then discover what the the double layer surface charge and interfacial characteristics are, as well as explore isoelectric point characterisation.
This is an opportunity to get a basic overview of ELS and zeta potential and key applications from one of Malvern Panalytical’s Zetasizer experts.
