This year’s P-MEC will be held 1-3 December in Mumbai, India. Romaco will exhibit state-of-the-art technology from its packaging and processing division in hall 5 at booth A-10. Romaco, headquartered in Germany, offers compact machine lines and plants for versatile applications within the pharmaceutical industry.

At P-MEC 2009 Romaco will present the vertical heat-sealing machine Siebler HM 1/230 for strip-packaging of pharmaceutical solids such as tablets, capsules and effervescent tablets. Absolute reproducibility of all sealing parameters like pressure, temperature and speed indicates highest accuracy during the whole production process. At packaging speeds of up to 5,000 cycles per minute the products are fed into the machine on up to 16 foil strips. Different foil widths with a maximum of 750mm can be selected.

A further trade fair highlight will be the Romaco blister line composed of the rotary sealing blister machine Noack N 921 and the continuous motion cartoner Promatic PC 4000. This ergonomic Romaco line offers top flexibility for small and medium batch sizes and frequent format changeovers. QuickFeed, the Noack feeding unit with its unique airglide system, enables product changes within seconds. The complete unit is removed for cleaning while production continues with a second ready-tooled feed unit. With a maximum output of up to 500 blisters per minute the Noack N 921 provides strong performance on a small footprint.

The balcony designed cartoner Promatic PC 4000, with a speed of up to 400 cartons per minute, forms a productive unit for a wide range of pharmaceutical applications. Its servo-driven double positive carton opening system provides a smooth handling at carton opening, blister and leaflet feeding. The general use of servo technology on this Romaco blister line minimises mechanical stress on the blisters, the package inserts and the cartons.

With the Macofar VF 24 vial filler, Romaco presents its new machine generation for the aseptic filling of liquid and lyophilised pharmaceutical products. The patented slim design of the plant combines all advantages of balcony and table-top designed machines. Its critical filling zone is very narrow; the distance between the filling nozzles and the front of the machine is less than 600mm. Due to the high distance between the machine bottom plate and the vials area, turbulences around the open bottles are avoided. The sterile vial filler therefore supports the strict monitoring of aseptic processes. Moving at medium-high speed, the GMP-standardised plant achieves a maximum output of 24,000 vials per hour.

The FrymaKoruma MaxxD Lab represents the Romaco processing division at P-MEC. The vacuum processing machine is suitable for liquids and semi-solids in a wide range of viscosities. For the manufacture of suspensions, emulsions and gels the process parameters can be flexibly adjusted for high levels of product reproducibility. The heart of the machine is the homogeniser, located below the vessel and designed according to the rotor-stator principle. A powerful ring vacuum pump vacuums up both liquid and dry product components directly from the feed hoppers into the mixing chamber. Large quantities of dry materials can be rapidly drawn in and processed.
