Metastorm, a leading provider of business process management (BPM), business process analysis (BPA) and enterprise architecture (EA) software for aligning strategy with execution, today announced that CIO Magazine has named Metastorm customer Wyeth Pharmaceuticals as one of this year’s CIO 100 winners in recognition of its success with BPM.

Wyeth is one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical and healthcare products companies. According to CIO, the 2009 CIO 100 Awards honour 100 companies that are creating new business value by innovating with technology. The Wyeth award entry highlighted the deployment of an electronic data capture system for the collection of drug trial data using Metastorm BPM® and Medidata Rave.

It said that Wyeth’s clinical data was now available almost immediately following patient visits, enabling dynamic trial execution methods and “early fail” business decisions for study projects.

“We congratulate the Wyeth R&D team for the CIO 100 recognition and for the team’s focus on business process improvement and advanced use of Metastorm BPM in developing sophisticated business solutions,” said Bob Farrell, chairman and CEO of Metastorm.

“Wyeth’s commendable achievement also goes further than the single project cited in the CIO 100 – Wyeth has been one of our premier customers in terms of the scope and criticality of business projects for which it has employed the use of BPM technology. Wyeth’s focus on delivering value through process improvement is paying off with measurable results.”

The CIO 100 award applicants were asked what technologies were most important to executing their projects, and business process management and enterprise architecture technologies emerged as number one and number two in the overall list, providing strong industry validation on the value these applications deliver.
