China’s pharma industry registered a 4.9% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 9.91% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.76% share in August 2021, recording an increase of 0.14% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in China’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100.99% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s pharma industry in August 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 66.34% in August 2021, registering an 8.06% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 12.87% share, an increase of 160% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 8.91%, registering a 10% decline from July 2021.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 7.92%, down 38.46% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 37.5% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s pharma industry during August 2021 over July 2021.

Sanofi posted 22 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a rise of 175% over the previous month, followed by Parexel International with 18 jobs and a 12.5% growth. F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 13 IT jobs and Pfizer with 7 jobs, recorded a 62.5% flat growth and a 41.67% decrease, respectively, while Bayer recorded an increase of 50% with 6 job postings during August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.38%, up by 18.87% from July 2021. Entry Level positions with a 19.8% share, registered a decline of 13.04% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 16.83% share, down 29.17% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.99%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
