Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations drive environmental sustainability-related hiring activity
Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations, with a share of 15%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the pharmaceutical industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 70% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 11% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 10% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent environmental sustainability roles include Life, Physical, and Social Science Occupations with a 9% share in Q2 2024, Healthcare Support Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in pharmaceutical industry accounted for 66% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were CSL, Biocon, Eurofins Scientific, Sanofi, and Merck. Together they accounted for a combined share of 66% of all environmental sustainability-related new jobs in the pharmaceutical industry.
CSL posted 3,088 environmental sustainability-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Biocon 1,013 jobs, Eurofins Scientific 888 jobs, Sanofi 413 jobs, and Merck 284 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 66.06% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the pharmaceutical industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 66.06% followed by India (14.48%) and the UK (2.18%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point lower than the 67.19% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
