Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations, with a share of 19%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the pharmaceutical industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings rising by 12% quarter-on-quarter. Healthcare Support Occupations came in second with a share of 13% in Q3 2023, with new job postings rising by 277% over the previous quarter.

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were CSL, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Novo Nordisk, and Pfizer. Together they accounted for a combined share of 69% of all environmental sustainability-related new jobs in the pharmaceutical industry.
CSL posted 3,531 environmental sustainability-related new jobs in Q3 2023, Johnson & Johnson 321 jobs, Merck 245 jobs, Novo Nordisk 222 jobs, and Pfizer 185 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 71.32% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023
The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the pharmaceutical industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 71.32% followed by Australia (3.67%) and India (2.68%). The share represented by the US was 11 percentage points higher than the 60.27% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
