Middle East & Africa witnessed a 2.6% rise in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2021 has seen a decrease of 2.19% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.97% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering an increase of 0.15% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 76.92% in August 2021, a 17.65% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 15.38% in August 2021, marking a flat month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 3.85% in August 2021, an 80% drop from July 2021.

Computer and Information Research Scientists registered a share of 3.85% in August 2021, a 50% decline over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 50% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s pharma industry during August 2021 over previous month.

Parexel International posted 6 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 50% over the previous month, followed by DarioHealth with 3 jobs and a flat growth. F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 2 IT jobs and ICON with 2 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 100% rise, respectively, while MMS Holdings recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during August 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s pharma industry

South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 57.69% share in August 2021, an 114.29% increase over July 2021. Israel featured next with a 23.08% share, down 45.45% over the previous month. Egypt recorded a 7.69% share, a growth of 100% compared with July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.38%, flat growth from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 30.77% share, registered a growth of 14.29% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 3.85% share, down 66.67% over July 2021.
