North America witnessed a 1.5% rise in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

July 2021 has seen an increase of 2.15% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 1.48% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering decrease of 0.04% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 42.04% in July 2021, a 5.3% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 15.6% in July 2021, marking a 4.29% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 14.78% in July 2021, a 0.24% growth from June 2021.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 12.43% in July 2021, a 3.59% decline over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 22.22% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s pharma industry during July 2021 over previous month.

HCA Healthcare posted 218 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered an increase of 19.78% over the previous month, followed by Bausch Health Companies with 195 jobs and a 45.52% growth. CVS Health with 159 IT jobs and Oak Street Health with 131 jobs, recorded a 7.02% decline and a 50.57% increase, respectively, while F. Hoffmann-La Roche recorded a 19.64% increase with 67 job postings during July 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s pharma industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 92.52% share in July 2021, a 2.73% decline over June 2021. Canada featured next with a 5.81% share, up 41.74% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.67% share, a growth of 9.3% compared with June 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.93%, down by 1.85% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 25.97% share, a decline of 4.95% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 18.31% share, up 12.47% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.78%, recording a month-on-month decline of 33.33%.
