Switzerland’s pharma industry registered a 9.9% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 9.03% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.12% share in August 2021, recording an increase of 0.1% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Switzerland’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 103.45% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Switzerland’s pharma industry in August 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 31.03% in August 2021, registering a 55% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 24.14% share, an increase of 40% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 20.69%, registering a 50% rise from July 2021.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 20.69%, up 20% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Switzerland’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 32.14% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Switzerland’s pharma industry during August 2021 over July 2021.

F. Hoffmann-La Roche posted 10 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a drop of 28.57% over the previous month, followed by Idorsia Pharmaceutical with 3 jobs and a 62.5% drop. Sanofi with 2 IT jobs and CSL with 2 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 100% flat growth, respectively, while Novartis recorded a decline of 60% with 2 job postings during August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.41%, down by 12.5% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 20.69% share, registered a decline of 33.33% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Senior job ads with 3.45% share, flat growth over July 2021, while Entry Level postings accounted for 3.45%, recording a month-on-month decline of 75%.
