Auricle heating device with separate left and right devices
A recently filed patent (Publication Number: US20230233369A1) describes an auricle heating device that consists of a pair of left and right heating devices to be worn in the left and right ears. Each heating device includes a heating body, a holding portion to hold the heating body, and a fixing portion that is worn in the auricle to fix the holding portion in contact with the inner side of the auricle at a specific position. The left and right heating devices are separate from each other.
In each heating device, the fixing portion is worn in the auricle in a way that the holding portion is fixed in contact with the inner wall surface near the cavum conchae. The holding portion includes a supporting portion that comes in contact with the inner wall surface of the cavum conchae near the antitragus, providing support for the fixing portion.
The holding portion also includes a contact surface portion with a contact surface that comes into contact with the inner side of the auricle at a predetermined position. A side wall portion stands upright from the circumferential edge of the contact surface portion, and the heating body is fitted into the side wall portion from the back surface side of the contact surface and held in place.
The fixing portion includes an insertion portion that is inserted into a shallow portion of the external acoustic meatus hole while being in intimate contact with the inner wall surface. This insertion portion is designed to close off the external acoustic meatus hole and block out external audio.
The fixing portion also includes a first extension portion that extends from the holding portion and reaches the inner wall surface of the cymba conchae. Additionally, a second extension portion extends from the holding portion and reaches a first position on the inner wall surface of the cavum conchae, located inward of the antihelix. These extension portions, along with the supporting portion, press against the inner side of the auricle, providing support.
The heating body in each device generates heat through a chemical reaction, specifically a metal oxidation reaction. The heating body is disposable, and at least one of the holding portion and the fixing portion is made of rubber, elastomer, or synthetic resin.
