Asia-Pacific witnessed a 5.1% drop in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
January 2022 has seen a decrease of 2.45% in the overall hiring activity when compared with December 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.52% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in January 2022, registering a decrease of 0.18% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in January 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 57.79% in January 2022, an 8.37% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 22.36% in January 2022, marking a 4.71% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 11.81% in January 2022, a 4.08% drop from December 2022.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 5.03% in January 2022, a 23.08% decline over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 15.38% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s pharma industry during January 2022 over previous month.
Novo Nordisk posted 45 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered an increase of 55.17% over the previous month, followed by GlaxoSmithKline with 41 jobs and a 24.07% drop. Eli Lilly and with 36 IT jobs and Ministry of Health, New South Wales, Australia with 33 jobs, recorded a 414.29% rise and a 13.79% rise, respectively, while F. Hoffmann-La Roche recorded a 32.43% decline with 25 job postings during January 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s pharma industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 58.29% share in January 2022, a 5.45% increase over December 2022. China featured next with a 13.07% share, down 27.78% over the previous month. Australia recorded a 12.81% share, a drop of 5.56% compared with December 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.79%, down by 13.86% from December 2022. Mid Level positions with a 32.66% share, registered a growth of 20.37% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.3% share, down 32.73% over December 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.25%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
