Asia-Pacific witnessed a 6.3% drop in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
December 2021 has seen a decrease of 9.68% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.61% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering a decrease of 0.13% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 58.42% in December 2021, a 23.38% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 19.55% in December 2021, marking a 10.23% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 11.63% in December 2021, a 12.96% drop from November 2021.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 5.69% in December 2021, a 91.67% rise over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 14.36% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s pharma industry during December 2021 over previous month.
GlaxoSmithKline posted 54 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a decline of 21.74% over the previous month, followed by F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 37 jobs and a 76.19% growth. Ministry of Health, New South Wales, Australia with 29 IT jobs and Parexel International with 27 jobs, recorded a 38.3% drop and a 38.64% drop, respectively, while Novo Nordisk recorded a 42.86% increase with 20 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s pharma industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 52.72% share in December 2021, a 21.69% decrease over November 2021. China featured next with a 15.59% share, down 11.27% over the previous month. Australia recorded an 11.88% share, a drop of 22.58% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.63%, down by 11.7% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 24.26% share, registered a decline of 34.23% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.61% share, down 8.33% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.5%, recording a month-on-month decline of 33.33%.
