Asia-Pacific witnessed a 1.0% rise in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

May 2022 has seen a decrease of 3.11% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.16% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering an increase of 0.15% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 46.94% in May 2022, a 7.38% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 18.03% in May 2022, marking a 3.92% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 17.69% in May 2022, a 4% rise from April 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 11.9% in May 2022, a 36.36% decline over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 5.84% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s pharma industry during May 2022 over previous month.

AstraZeneca posted 43 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a decline of 25.86% over the previous month, followed by GSK with 31 jobs and a 26.19% drop. Parexel International with 27 IT jobs and Ministry of Health, New South Wales, Australia with 23 jobs, recorded a 350% rise and a 15% rise, respectively, while Bayer recorded a 90.91% increase with 21 job postings during May 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s pharma industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 59.18% share in May 2022, a 15.53% decrease over April 2022. China featured next with a 15.65% share, up 17.95% over the previous month. Australia recorded a 12.59% share, a growth of 19.35% compared with April 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.75%, up by 2.46% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 21.09% share, registered a decline of 35.42% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.8% share, down 23.08% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.36%, recording a month-on-month growth of 300%.
