Canada’s pharma industry registered a 1.5% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.79% in November 2022 when compared with October 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.67% share in November 2022, recording an increase of 0.05% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry in November 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 51.04% in November 2022, registering a 6.52% growth over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed an 18.75% share, a decrease of 43.75% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 14.58%, registering a 40% rise from October 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 9.38%, up 28.57% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 14.06% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry during November 2022 over October 2022.

Alberta Health Services posted 44 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a drop of 8.33% over the previous month, followed by Syneos Health with 10 jobs and a 150% growth. Vancouver Coastal Health with 7 IT jobs and Apotex with 7 jobs, recorded a 250% growth and a 40% growth, respectively, while McKesson recorded a flat growth with 5 job postings during November 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.54%, down by 14.08% from October 2022. Mid Level positions with a 29.17% share, registered an increase of 21.74% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.25% share, down 45.45% over October 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.04%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
