Canada’s pharma industry registered a 0.8% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 3.13% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.6% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry in October 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 48.91% in October 2022, registering a 40.63% growth over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 27.17% share, an increase of 19.05% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 10.87%, registering a 66.67% rise from September 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 7.61%, down 50% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 58.54% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

Alberta Health Services posted 48 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a rise of 33.33% over the previous month, followed by Apotex with 5 jobs and a 150% growth. McKesson with 5 IT jobs and F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 4 jobs, recorded a 66.67% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Cardinal Health recorded a flat growth with 3 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.3%, up by 3.39% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.57% share, registered a decline of 5.26% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.96% share, up 83.33% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.17%, recording a month-on-month increase of 100%.
