Canada’s pharma industry registered a 6.6% rise in IT hiring activity in April 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 11.65% in April 2022 when compared with March 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.27% share in April 2022, recording an increase of 0.34% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 106.2% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry in April 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 44.19% in April 2022, registering a 29.55% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 25.58% share, an increase of 17.86% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 17.05%, registering a 46.67% rise from March 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 10.85%, down 30% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 53.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry during April 2022 over March 2022.

Alberta Health Services posted 30 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered a drop of 9.09% over the previous month, followed by F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 29 jobs and a 314.29% growth. Sanofi with 20 IT jobs and Penticton Regional Hospital with 7 jobs, recorded an 185.71% flat growth and a 16.67% flat growth, respectively, while Vancouver Coastal Health recorded a decline of 14.29% with 6 job postings during April 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.14%, up by 5.63% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 28.68% share, registered an increase of 32.14% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.18% share, up 54.55% over March 2022.
