September 2021 has seen a decrease of 5.68% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.38% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering an increase of 0.17% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 53.55% in September 2021, a 3.7% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 18.76% in September 2021, marking a 3.8% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 13.5% in September 2021, a 20.41% rise from August 2021.

Top five pharma companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 22.81% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s pharma industry during September 2021 over previous month.
F. Hoffmann-La Roche posted 36 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 28.57% over the previous month, followed by GlaxoSmithKline with 32 jobs and a 3.03% drop. Sanofi with 31 IT jobs and Johnson & Johnson with 23 jobs, recorded an 11.43% drop and a 109.09% rise, respectively, while Almac Group recorded a 157.14% increase with 18 job postings during September 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s pharma industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 21.05% share in September 2021, a 2.13% decrease over August 2021. Germany featured next with a 14.87% share, down 29.35% over the previous month. Spain recorded a 9.15% share, a growth of 122.22% compared with August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.5%, down by 13.04% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.92% share, registered a growth of 14.02% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.13% share, up 12.77% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.46%, recording a month-on-month decline of 60%.
