Europe witnessed a 1.6% rise in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

February 2022 has seen an increase of 2.99% in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.92% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering a decrease of 0.15% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in February 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 54.94% in February 2022, a 6.25% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 18.63% in February 2022, marking a 5.38% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 15.59% in February 2022, a 7.87% drop from January 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 5.32% in February 2022, a 15.15% decline over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 40.41% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s pharma industry during February 2022 over previous month.

Bayer posted 58 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered an increase of 20.83% over the previous month, followed by GlaxoSmithKline with 52 jobs and an 85.71% growth. Novo Nordisk with 34 IT jobs and Sanofi with 32 jobs, recorded a 47.83% rise and a 10.34% rise, respectively, while CompuGroup Medical SE & Co. recorded a 61.11% increase with 29 job postings during February 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s pharma industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with an 18.44% share in February 2022, a 10.23% increase over January 2022. Germany featured next with a 15.59% share, down 13.68% over the previous month. Poland recorded a 10.27% share, a flat growth compared with January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.41%, down by 1.52% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.71% share, registered a decline of 12.75% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.55% share, up 11.86% over January 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.33%, recording a month-on-month growth of 40%.
