India’s pharma industry registered an 11.1% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.43% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 12.95% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 1.92% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.58% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s pharma industry in September 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 40.83% in September 2022, registering a 35.1% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 28.33% share, a decrease of 6.85% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 15.83%, registering a 26.67% rise from August 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 12.5%, down 3.23% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 14.11% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s pharma industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

AstraZeneca posted 40 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a rise of 37.93% over the previous month, followed by Merck with 28 jobs and a 46.15% drop. Eurofins Scientific with 25 IT jobs and GSK with 24 jobs, recorded a 50% decline and a 200% growth, respectively, while Novo Nordisk recorded a decline of 4.17% with 23 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 53.75%, up by 4.03% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 34.17% share, registered a decline of 32.79% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.67% share, down 41.67% over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.42%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
