India’s pharma industry registered a 5.1% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 11.28% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 12.94% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 1.94% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.11% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s pharma industry in September 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 71.7% in September 2021, registering a 29.63% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 10.38% share, a decrease of 56.86% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 8.49%, registering a 63.64% rise from August 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 3.77%, flat growth over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 23.02% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s pharma industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

GlaxoSmithKline posted 31 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 24% over the previous month, followed by Parexel International with 21 jobs and a 10.53% growth. Novo Nordisk with 16 IT jobs and Eli Lilly and with 15 jobs, recorded a 46.67% decline and a 61.54% decrease, respectively, while Bracket Global recorded an increase of 7.69% with 14 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.32%, down by 28.18% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 31.6% share, registered a decline of 27.96% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.6% share, flat growth over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.47%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
