India’s pharma industry registered a 7.2% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 3.34% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 11.66% share in October 2021, recording a decrease of 2.34% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.74% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s pharma industry in October 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 67.23% in October 2021, registering a 4.76% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 14.29% share, an increase of 54.55% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.92%, registering a 44.44% rise from September 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 4.2%, up 25% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 59.68% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s pharma industry during October 2021 over September 2021.

GlaxoSmithKline posted 35 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 12.9% over the previous month, followed by Eli Lilly and with 20 jobs and a 25% growth. Bracket Global with 16 IT jobs and Agilon Health with 14 jobs, recorded a 100% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Cipla recorded an increase of 100% with 14 job postings during October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.04%, down by 10.27% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 36.13% share, registered an increase of 26.47% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 8.82% share, up 16.67% over September 2021.
