South & Central America witnessed a 23.6% drop in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

June 2022 has seen a decrease of 10.79% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.67% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2022, registering a decrease of 0.22% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 30.77% in June 2022, a 74.19% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 26.92% in June 2022, marking a 53.33% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 15.38% in June 2022, a 33.33% rise from May 2022.

Top five pharma companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 13.64% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s pharma industry during June 2022 over previous month.

F. Hoffmann-La Roche posted 6 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered an increase of 200% over the previous month, followed by Johnson & Johnson with 4 jobs and a 60% drop. AstraZeneca with 3 IT jobs and Notre Dame Intermedica Participacoes with 3 jobs, recorded a 50% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while Syneos Health recorded a 200% increase with 3 job postings during June 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s pharma industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 42.31% share in June 2022, a 57.69% decrease over May 2022. Costa Rica featured next with a 38.46% share, down 33.33% over the previous month. Argentina recorded a 15.38% share, a drop of 69.23% compared with May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.23%, down by 59.09% from May 2022. Entry Level positions with a 19.23% share, registered a decline of 37.5% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 11.54% share, down 62.5% over May 2022.
