The UK’s pharma industry registered a 7.1% drop in IT hiring activity in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2% in March 2022 when compared with February 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.1% share in March 2022, recording a decrease of 0.14% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.75% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry in March 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 62.5% in March 2022, registering a 13.79% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 16.25% share, a decrease of 7.14% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 12.5%, registering a 28.57% decline from February 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 3.75%, down 40% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 46.43% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry during March 2022 over February 2022.

GlaxoSmithKline posted 12 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a drop of 20% over the previous month, followed by Bausch Health Companies with 9 jobs and a 50% growth. Parexel International with 8 IT jobs and PSI CRO with 6 jobs, recorded a 14.29% flat growth and a flat growth, respectively.

Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 52.5%, down by 16% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 36.25% share, registered a decline of 21.62% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.5% share, down 25% over February 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 3.75%, recording a month-on-month decline of 25%.
