UK pharma industry IT recruitment activity drops 7.6% in January 2022

The UK’s pharma industry registered a 7.6% drop in IT hiring activity in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 4.45% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.91% share in January 2022, recording an increase of 0.23% over the last three-month average share.

 

Top five job classifications in the UK’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 94.51% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry in January 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 49.45% in January 2022, registering a 29.69% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 15.38% share, a decrease of 12.5% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 13.19%, registering a 100% rise from December 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 9.89%, down 18.18% over the previous month.

 

Top five pharma companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 50% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry during January 2022 over December 2022.

GlaxoSmithKline posted 10 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered a drop of 41.18% over the previous month, followed by F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 9 jobs and a 200% growth. Adaptimmune with 8 IT jobs and Johnson & Johnson with 7 jobs, recorded a 700% growth and a 250% growth, respectively, while Parexel International recorded an increase of 66.67% with 5 job postings during January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.95%, down by 36.71% from December 2022. Mid Level positions with a 27.47% share, registered an increase of 47.06% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.38% share, up 100% over December 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.2%, recording a month-on-month decline of 33.33%.
