The UK’s pharma industry registered a 1.5% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.92% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.63% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry in October 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 58.68% in October 2021, registering a 22.41% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 20.66% share, an increase of 25% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 9.92%, registering a 20% decline from September 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 5.79%, down 63.16% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 10.53% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry during October 2021 over September 2021.

AstraZeneca posted 22 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 144.44% over the previous month, followed by GlaxoSmithKline with 13 jobs and a 7.14% drop. Charles River Laboratories International with 12 IT jobs and Bausch Health Companies with 9 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 125% flat growth, respectively, while Almac Group recorded a decline of 61.11% with 7 job postings during October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.68%, up by 31.48% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 28.93% share, registered a decline of 25.53% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.26% share, down 41.18% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 4.13%, recording a month-on-month increase of 400%.
