The UK’s pharma industry registered an 8.6% rise in IT hiring activity in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.86% in February 2022 when compared with January 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.37% share in February 2022, recording an increase of 0.37% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.94% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry in February 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 58.76% in February 2022, registering a 32.56% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 14.43% share, an increase of 55.56% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 14.43%, registering a 6.67% decline from January 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.19%, flat growth over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 116.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry during February 2022 over January 2022.

Almac Group posted 18 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a rise of 800% over the previous month, followed by GlaxoSmithKline with 14 jobs and an 180% growth. Johnson & Johnson with 7 IT jobs and Parexel International with 7 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Sanofi recorded an increase of 100% with 6 job postings during February 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 49.48%, down by 4% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 38.14% share, registered an increase of 60.87% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.25% share, down 42.86% over January 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 4.12%, recording a month-on-month increase of 300%.
