The US’s pharma industry registered a 2.0% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 1.63% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.54% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 0.08% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.46% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s pharma industry in October 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 44.04% in October 2021, registering a 7.65% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 15.61% share, an increase of 24.56% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 14.05%, registering a 5.48% rise from September 2021.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 12.31%, down 6.05% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 8.6% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s pharma industry during October 2021 over September 2021.

HCA Healthcare posted 241 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a drop of 3.6% over the previous month, followed by Bausch Health Companies with 218 jobs and a 28.24% growth. CVS Health with 188 IT jobs and Oak Street Health with 112 jobs, recorded a 3.09% decline and a 19.15% flat growth, respectively, while McKesson recorded an increase of 25.42% with 74 job postings during October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.82%, down by 1.09% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 24.78% share, registered a decline of 8.23% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 19.38% share, up 2.17% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.02%, recording a month-on-month increase of 33.33%.
