Five largest chemical and pharmaceutical construction projects initiated globally in Q2 2022

Here are the largest chemical and pharmaceutical construction projects initiated globally in Q2 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Tuas Biomedical Park New Vaccine Production Facility – $467m

The project involves the construction of a new vaccine production facilities at Tuas Biomedical Park in Singapore.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q1 2026.

The main aim is to produce innovative vaccines on a massive scale for Asia and respond to future pandemic risks. Also, it creates a unique vaccine production center that produces three to four vaccines simultaneously in Singapore, pushing the boundaries of operations through cutting-edge manufacturing and digital technologies.

2. Yeosu Mononitrobenzene Manufacturing Plant – $375m

The project involves the construction of a Mononitrobenzene manufacturing plant with a production capacity of 300,000 tons per annum at Yeosu Industrial Complex, Jeollanam-do, South Korea.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to finish in Q2 2024.

3. Eddyville QORE Renewable BDO Facility – $300m

The project involves the construction of a renewable BDO facilities with a production capacity of 65,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of butanediol in Eddyville, Iowa, the US.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2024.

The project aims to replace fossil-based chemistries with bio-based intermediates and help in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

4. Verona Pharmaceutical Complex – $220m

The project involves the construction of a 26,477m2 pharmaceutical complex on 5.2ha of land in Verona, Wisconsin, the US.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024.

The project aims to support the growing pipeline position, advanced manufacturing process and Industry-leading investigational RNAi medicines which continue to expand rapidly.

5. Yeosu Dilute Nitric Acid Manufacturing Plant – $135m

The project involves the construction of a dilute nitric acid manufacturing plant with a production capacity of 400,000 tons per annum at Yeosu Industrial Complex, Jeollanam-do, South Korea.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q3 2022.
