A workforce of 45 members handles administration, quality control, and general operations at the premises. These employees dispatch both over-the-counter and prescription pharmaceuticals to 321 destinations situated across 43 states.

Since it began operating, the facility has distributed in excess of 61 million units nationwide.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals president and North America business head Marc Kikuchi said: “Glenmark has served US patients for more than two decades, and we continue to invest in the people and capabilities that enable us to serve patients, customers and partners across the country.

“Our growing US platform spans innovation, manufacturing and distribution, and the Allentown distribution centre is an important part of that commitment. We chose the Lehigh Valley for its exceptional workforce, strong community, and proximity to our customers and US headquarters.

“We are proud to operate a central distribution hub that helps keep Glenmark’s medicines moving to patients nationwide from right here in the Lehigh Valley.”

The facility conforms to regulatory standards set by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Its technical specifications feature cold-chain refrigerated areas, controlled-room-temperature sections, and DEA-compliant vaults and cages.

Operational practices at the property incorporate adjusted packaging, energy-efficiency initiatives, recycling, reduced waste, refined delivery routes, and specific protocols for shelter-in-place events, evacuations, and medical emergencies.

Across the US, Glenmark employs nearly 400 individuals and manages a portfolio of 229 FDA-authorised products that account for 90 million domestic prescriptions each year.

The company has directed close to $1bn into domestic manufacturing and research infrastructure, which includes almost $400m allocated to an FDA-cleared manufacturing site in Monroe, North Carolina.

The Allentown facility complements Glenmark’s other American properties, comprising its Elmwood Park corporate headquarters in New Jersey and Ichnos Glenmark Innovation, a wholly owned biotechnology subsidiary based in New York.
