The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has approved Johnson & Johnson’s (J&J) Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use. This is the third Covid-19 vaccine to be approved in the country after AstraZeneca and Pfizer’s jabs. J&J’s vaccine has already been approved in the US, UK, European Union and several other countries.

The National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases of the Indian Council of Medical Research has announced plans to conduct research on a oral Covid-19 vaccine in collaboration with a Germany-based company. The research on the vaccine will begin upon receiving the necessary funds. The development of the oral vaccine is expected to take five to six years in the laboratory.

A leaked memo from Thailand’s health ministry has raised concerns over the efficacy of Sinovac Biotech’s Covid-19 vaccine. The health minister, however, has dismissed the memo as an opinion and said that two doses of Sinovac’s vaccine delivered adequate protection. Experts from the country have urged the government to administer different types of vaccines to increase the protection among the population.
