PHARMACEUTICAL INGREDIENTS AND EXCIPIENTS

We provide our customers with high-quality excipients and active pharmaceutical ingredients for optimizing pharmaceutical processes and products. These products are made using the latest technologies, to the highest quality standards and in compliance with cGMP guidelines. Our comprehensive product portfolio and service package makes us a preferred supplier to the pharmaceutical industry.

BASF demonstrates acceleration through innovation with the following products:

  • Kollidon® VA-64 Fine - advanced performance as a dry binder for direct compression and roller compaction
  • Kollidon® CL-F - particularly suited for the manufacture of very small tablets
  • Kollidon® CL-SF - ensure tablets disintegrate quickly to increase the bioavailability of APIs
  • Ibuprofen DC-85 - increase tablet processing speed with non-sticking, directly-compressible ibuprofen

CUSTOM SYNTHESIS

BASF’s custom synthesis services can support the life cycle of pharmaceutical products and projects from development to successful full-scale production with:

  • A wide range of chemical technologies for exclusive process development and manufacture of advanced intermediates and active ingredients
  • Multi-purpose plants, which are inspected by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and manufactured to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards
  • Flexible equipment that allows rapid production changeover and the use of new technologies

The company expanded its capabilities in 2005 with the acquisition and integration of Swiss-based Orgamol, which added 50 years of experience and an expert staff of more than 500 people, along with research and development facilities, kilo-lab, pilot plant and production sites in Switzerland and France.

CONTRACT MANUFACTURING

BASF’s Shreveport contract manufacturing plant is a flexible, high-capacity site able to handle the manufacturing of solid and semi-solid dosage forms of tablets, capsules, liquids and creams. The site has been producing quality pharmaceuticals for nearly two decades and is among the leading US manufacturers of prescription-strength ibuprofen tablets.

The facility meets cGMP and is able to handle compounds up to schedule II, from raw materials through packaging of finished product. Our capabilities include the manufacturing of solid dosage forms: aqueous and solvent granulations, compression, coating, printing, manufacturing of creams and liquids, and packaging.
