SUPERCRITICAL FLUID CHROMATOGRAPHY

Preparative Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) is more and more used in research & development laboratories and pilot plants of the pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries.

SFC is particularly interesting for the purification of: chiral compounds, actives or intermediates from complex mixtures, lipophilic compounds.

SFC uses pressurized CO2 instead of organic solvents as a separation eluent. Compared with traditional preparative HPLC, it provides enhanced output thanks to the properties of CO2 which has low viscosity and high diffusivity.

SUPERSEP™ PREPARATIVE SFC SYSTEM

Novasep's latest generation of preparative SFC systems (Supersep™) combines its expertise developed in preparative and process scale HPLC for 30 years with advanced chemical engineering. Its benefits include:

  • Throughput three to five times greater than conventional preparative HPLC
  • Applications to complex molecule purification through the use of mixtures of CO2 and organic solvents
  • Highest recovery ratio of the target purified compound, using patented cyclone separators
  • Ability to perform multiple automated separations for unattended, cGMP purifications
  • Automated clean-in-place feature, making Supersep™ an ideal tool for multi-purpose preparative separation laboratory

CO2 RECYCLING

There is a huge reduction of organic solvents consumption in the Supersep process. This is coupled with optimized CO2 recycling which uses patent pending technology that reduces operating costs compared to preparative HPLC. This makes Supersep system a green technology.

SUPERSEP 20-30/30-50

The Supersep 20-30/30-50 is a fully automated, preparative Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) unit of Novasep. Supersep Lab 20-30/30-50 features include:

  • Automated CO2 recycling, ensuring remarkably low operating costs
  • Co-solvent gradient
  • Patented cyclone separators for quantitative recovery of purified products, such as enantiomers
  • Natural compounds
  • Complex synthetic chemicals
  • Three modes of injection (loop injection, directly on column, directly in CO2 stream)

PREPARATIVE SFC SYSTEMS

The Supersep 20-30/30-50 completes the range of preparative SFC systems for Novasep. Its SFC treatments include:

  • Supersep Lab 20-30/30-50 for the purification of one gram to tens of grams
  • Supersep 50 for hundreds of grams to kilogram scale
  • Supersep 100 for multi-kilogram campaigns
