Canada’s pharma industry registered a 13.2% drop in IT hiring activity in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.42% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.64% share in June 2022, recording a decrease of 0.32% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry in June 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 36.78% in June 2022, registering a 17.95% decline over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 25.29% share, a decrease of 21.43% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 19.54%, registering a 21.43% rise from May 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 10.34%, down 30.77% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 3.77% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry during June 2022 over May 2022.

Alberta Health Services posted 28 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a drop of 26.32% over the previous month, followed by F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 6 jobs and a 100% growth. Bausch Health Companies with 6 IT jobs and Mackenzie Health with 6 jobs, recorded a 500% growth and a 50% growth, respectively, while Apotex recorded a decline of 28.57% with 5 job postings during June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.97%, down by 16.67% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.54% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 11.49% share, down 37.5% over May 2022.
