Major pharmaceutical markets are severely deficient in the diagnosis of dry eye syndrome

Dry eye syndrome is an ailment induced by a lack of adequate tears, which are essential for supporting eye health and clear vision. It is a prevalent and often chronic issue occurring in middle-aged and elderly individuals. In the nine principal pharmaceutical markets, GlobalData epidemiologists found that almost two-thirds of all DES cases went undiagnosed in 2018.

The principal driver behind this conclusion is the lack of uniform diagnostic criteria or disease guidelines for the diagnosis of DES. Read more here.
