Ind-Swift Laboratories Limited (ISLL) is a part of the Ind Swift group, headquartered in Chandigarh. The company was set up in 1995 as a joint venture between Ind Swift Ltd. (ISL) and Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC), and began commercial production in 1997.

ISLL is one of the largest manufacturers of the API and advanced intermediates in domestic and international market. Hitherto focused on soft regulated markets, ISLL has been steadily building a platform for a foray into advanced markets with a clear focus on positioning itself as a primary supplier of APIs to generic players in regulated markets. As part of this, Ind Swift Laboratories, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of ISLL, was incorporated in the USA in March 2004.

Over a short period of time, ISLL has emerged as a reliable supplier of bulk-actives in more than 45 countries. Our services include: research for APIs / advanced intermediates, development of non-infringing processes for promising molecules, process optimization and improvement, contract research, contract manufacturing, etc.

ACTIVE PHARMACEUTICAL INGREDIENTS AND ADVANCED INTERMEDIATES

The company has strong product basket of over 20 products across different therapeutic categories:

  • Macrolide antibiotics: clarithromycin*, clarithromycin granules, roxithromycin, azithromycin
  • Cardiovascular: atrorvastatin calcium crystalline, atorvastatin calcium amorphous, clopidogrel bisulphate, ezetimibe
  • Anti histamine: fexofenadine HCl
  • Anti depressant: venlafaxine*
  • Anti psychotic: quetiapine fumarate*, aripiprazole*
  • Parkinson disease: ropinirole*
  • Anti diabetic: pioglitazone HCl*
  • Analgesic: pentazocine
  • Steroids: betamethasone valerate, betamethasone dipropionate, betamethasone sodium phosphate
  • Aromatase inhibitors: letrozole, anastrozole
  • Anti diarrhoeal: nitazoxanide
  • Alcohol absistence: acomprosate calcium

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Research and Development has been an imperative part of our growth process and we have built up considerable R&D strengths, centered on a knowledge base pool of over 80 scientists and technical personnel working towards the common goal of achieving excellence in all spheres of activities, be it the development of new molecules, changes in the process resulting in cost reduction. ISLL has been investing aggressively in its R&D activities, to the level of almost 6% of its turnover. The new state of the art R&D Centre at Mohali, Punjab has been set up at an investment of USD 5 mn. The centre has eight synthetic laboratories which will besides facilitating companies entry into the regulated markets with filing of four to five DMFs every year offer custom synthesis and contract research services.

IPR CELL

Our IPR cell works in tandem with the R&D division to provide assistance in patent search, product selection, validation and DMF filings. During last few years, we have filed more than 50 DMFs in CTD format across the globe including five DMFs in US.

MANUFACTURING

The company possesses a cumulative reactor capacity of 225m³, Complex reaction capabilities and stringent controls provide an ideal base for innovative quality products.

The company has its manufacturing sites for producing API’s at following locations:

  • A WHO-GMP approved manufacturing facility at Punjab includes a TGA approved block and pilot plant
  • An API facility in the state of Jammu & Kashmir

FOCUSED ON CRAMS FOR FUTURE GROWTH

Over the years the company has proven its strength as a reliable outsourcing partner for product and technology development. The company has signed contracts with European companies to develop their products through non-infringing processes, supporting them with detailed documentation and cGMP manufacturing sites.

FINANCIALS

During the quarter ending 31 December 2005, the company's operational income has jumped by 23.38% to Rs 82.35 crore from Rs 66.75 crore during the corresponding quarter the previous year, and net profit spurted by 20.89% from Rs 7.53 crore to Rs 9.10 crore. During this quarter the company recorded a 22.24% push-up in exports.
