Vetter Pharma-Fertigung & Co. KG will inject the International Contract Service Expo (ICSE) with a calibrated dose of knowledge and leadership in the field of aseptically pre-filled product solutions.

One of the world’s leading providers of aseptically pre-filled injection systems, Vetter will exhibit at booth number 41J41 in hall 4.1 at the 2008 ICSE show, which will be held on 30 September to 2 October in Frankfurt, Germany.

In addition, Dr. Hermann Piana, one of Vetter’s key account managers, will discuss the critical need for competence in calibrating packaging, as well as the role it plays in developing, launching and managing a pre-packaged product successfully.

Titled “successful lifecycle management of a sterile drug product,” Dr. Piana’s presentation will be given three separate times as part of the ICSE speaker’s corner. His lecture is scheduled to take place from 11am to 11:25am on all three days of the ICSE event.

“Calibrating a drug with its packaging is one of the most critical challenges in aseptic filling today,” Dr. Piana said. He continued: “Increasingly complex substances are making more and more demands on the composition of injection systems. Regulatory authorities around the world also keep making safety laws more stringent, and drug manufacturers and users alike are calling for more patient-friendly application systems.”

“The challenge is particularly prevalent with highly complex biotech substances because bio-pharmaceutically manufactured drugs are extremely sensitive to their environment. All materials that are used—the type of glass, the various components, like the stoppers and other parts, and the degree of siliconization must be optimally matched with the respective active substances to ensure effectiveness. This is where Vetter offers a decisive core competency, and we look forward to sharing our experience with ICSE participants,” Dr. Piana added.
