Asset management and predictive maintenance are subjects that have a decisive influence on today’s decision-making processes in plant planning. More than 20% of users employ plant-oriented asset management already and more than 50% intend to establish this system. The FOUNDATION fieldbus technology supports these requirements in an unparalleled manner.

FOUNDATION fieldbus makes instrument data an integral part of the control and operating level. This technology is the optimum interface for your plant planning and maintenance. The basic feature of a FOUNDATION fieldbus is the distribution of intelligence to sensors and actuators of the respective plant. Field instruments are used as link masters and can thus function with each other and assume regulating tasks without the involvement of the controller. This means an unrivalled increase in safety and profitable productivity for the plant operator.

Endress+Hauser has breathed additional intelligence into its pressure instruments with the FF protocol. In the new FF Version 3.00, Device Revision 6, the field instruments for process pressure measurement, Cerabar S, hydrostatic level measurement, Deltapilot S, as well as differential pressure/flow measurement, Deltabar S, have been equipped with numerous new function blocks. The field instruments can now assume almost any function of a plant operation using both permanently instantiated blocks and those instantiated by the plant operator.

Advantages of Endress+Hauser instruments

  • Improved flow of information – apart from the measured value, further important information is provided, e.g. status indication and service information
  • Quick data exchange between the field instruments and the higher-ranking system, e.g. control system or PLC, resulting in faster and more reliable process automation
  • Access to all field instruments from the process control system and thus setting of all field instruments by the process control system
  • More openness – the Foundation Fieldbus Standard IEC 61158 is open, not dependent on any manufacturer and stable
  • More economic efficiency – easy access to all instrument data and instrument diagnoses
  • Higher flexibility in production through improved plant productivity
  • Higher availability of the plant and thus less down times
  • Reliable and safe diagnosis data for the predictive maintenance of your plant

However, this increase in flexibility and functionality is not at the expense of an increase in power consumption. Compared with market standards, the pressure instruments of Endress+Hauser offer the lowest power consumption of their class with the new FF protocol. Comparatively many field instruments can thus be operated with only one isolating amplifier.

The pressure instruments are, of course, integrated into all relevant process automation systems. Interchangeability with previous FF versions is safeguarded. It is only the pressure instruments of Endress+Hauser that offer operators the additional benefit of a HistoROM. This storage module archives or duplicates all settings. If need be, a measuring point can thus be restored and equipped swiftly for its actual task – the support of production. The optional display provides all parameters and their operation immediately at the instrument.

The new FOUNDATION fieldbus pressure instruments of Endress+Hauser are convincing since additional safety, efficiency and cost reduction have never harmed a plant so far.
