The typical seed train is a manual and multi-level process for culturing cells, i.e. during perfusion-based upstream bioprocessing. The cell culture process to generate biomass from working cell banks (WCB) to inoculate the production bioreactor requires extensive resources, such as labour and time, and carries the risk of cross-contamination.
Seed train intensification is a flexible production process that allows laboratories and manufacturers to grow a number of cell lines for the inoculation of bioreactors used in production such as E. Coli or CHO cells.
