Zenith Technologies is dedicated to supporting pharmaceutical companies worldwide in deploying solutions that improve business performance. The team has worked alongside one of the top ten pharmaceutical organisations in the US to oversee the roll-out of a company-wide standard solution for weighing and dispensing.

As the starting point to all manufacturing processes, weigh and dispense is business critical, requiring precise control over ingredients to ensure every drug product is formulated to a specific recipe. At an enterprise level, an effective solution can also lead to increased speed and accuracy, improving overall business performance.

Keeping up to date with technology is an issue for many companies. Replacing legacy systems can be seen as a burden to business continuity and a complicated process due to the integration requirements involved with existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. The company needed the guidance of a partner to assist with the design, development, and support of a corporate standard solution for weigh and dispense. Mettler Toledo’s FormWeigh solution proved to be the perfect fit.

Zenith worked with the customer to deploy the solution for the first time at one of the client’s key manufacturing sites in the US, while also replacing its legacy ERP system with a new standard systems applications products (SAP) solution. Both this and the new FormWeigh system were scheduled to go-live on the same day, meaning the project was classed as high-risk and needed to be well-managed to avoid potential downtime.

The project team from Zenith undertook multiple visits to the site to evaluate the current business processes and identify any gaps where improvements could be made. This was a vital part of the planning process that contributed to the overall success of the project.

Delivered on time and on budget, the project has been labelled as a best practice example by the client. The simple transition between systems helped to save valuable learning and development time for the organisation’s team. The deployment has also provided a roadmap for the solution to be rolled out across the client’s other global sites, reducing risk further down the line. Zenith continues to provide site-level support to the client, preserving the business benefits that the chosen system delivers.

The vice-president of manufacturing IT for the client commented: “Projects are successful because of the people who work on them. Some people just want to follow rules. This project worked hard to navigate obstacles and unnecessary delays. Simply not accepting obstacles and working to defeat them was a critical factor in its success.”
