FREWITT LTD, located in Granges-Paccot, Switzerland, and DISPERSOL LLC located in Georgetown, Texas, USA, are pleased to announce the successful collaboration in the area of fine micronisation, notably pin milling, with DISPERSOLS’ acquisition and successful implementation of FREWITT’s FLEXMILL-LAB PM-160 with CRYOGENIC FEEDER, a part of the FREWITT FLEXMILL LAB LINE.

“DISPERSOL and FREWITT began over two years ago to discuss, and develop a solution for extremely difficult to mill polymers requiring a very fine particle size distribution. The collaboration between our technical staffs in Switzerland and the USA allowed us to develop, deliver, and implement an ideal solution for DISPERSOL: a high energy pin mill fed by a cryogenic dosing device, ensuring user security, sufficient throughput, a narrow particle-size-distribution, and no product retention”, explained FREWITT CEO, Antoine Virdis.

“DISPERSOL’s proprietary technology for enhancing drug bioavailability enables development of new drugs with no other path forward to provide patients with better medicines.  High molecular weight polymers not processable in other technologies can for the first time be used to create improved treatments. The physical hardness of these formulations can pose a challenge to the post-processing step of size reduction.  A fine-micronisation requirement with an extremely difficult to process polymer led us to discuss our needs with FREWITT. Together, we defined process and machine requirements. Scientists and engineers from FREWITT and DISPERSOL collaborated side-by-side in FREWITT’s Swiss and US laboratories, as well at the US facilities of DISPERSOL. FREWITT technical staff supported DISPERSOL in the start-up of the equipment in the USA.   It has been a very satisfying partnership throughout every phase,” commented Dr Chris Brough, Vice President of Technology of DISPERSOL.
