FREWITT SA located in Granges-Paccot, Switzerland, and CIPLA LTD. located in Mumbai, India, are pleased to announce their successful collaboration in the area of fine micronisation. Recently CIPLA has acquired and successfully implemented of the new PINMILL technology of FREWITT: the FLEXMILL-LAB PM-160, part of the FREWITT FLEXMILL LAB LINE. The project for fine micronisation grew organically as CIPLA’s requirements evolved towards finer micronisation, and they turned to FREWITT for the right solution.

“The collaboration between our scientists in Switzerland and India permitted our companies to meet the project requirements of delivering, and implementing an ideal solution: a milling platform providing user security, sufficient throughput, a narrow particle-size-distribution, no product retention, and the ability for the machine to adapt to other milling processes with the simple change of the milling head”, explained FREWITT CEO, Antoine Virdis.

“CIPLA has always been driven to develop new treatments in order to improve the health of our patients worldwide.  This core value inspires us to seek new technical solutions to produce these treatments. Our fine-micronisation requirements led us to discuss our needs with FREWITT. Together we defined CIPLA’s process and machine requirements. Eventually, scientists from FREWITT and CIPLA worked side-by-side in our respective Swiss and Indian laboratories. During the final project stages, FREWITT process scientists accompanied CIPLA technical staff in the start-up of the equipment in India.   It has been a very satisfying partnership throughout every phase”, commented Jinesh Chauhan, Head of Process Development and Technology Transfer at CIPLA.
