Flexible Drug Containers for Parenteral Drugs

By Weibel CDS
Self-medication is becoming more popular, driven by cost considerations. Valuable time of healthcare personnel and the high cost of hospital stays are outweighing the costs of treatment drastically. Two third of injectable drugs are infused via infusion bags and sets. Not only is the handling of infusion time consuming and cumbersome, but patients often also lose mobility and are confined to bed. Alternatively, drugs are administered by infusion pumps. Here, two different solutions are available. Hospitalised patients are given their treatment via infusion pumps based on 50ml syringes with the same effect on mobility and confinement to bed as for infusion bags.
