Immuno-Oncology and Engineered Cell Therapy Development

Immuno-Oncology and Engineered Cell Therapy Development-prodcut-feature-image

The development of effective cancer immunotherapies requires a clear understanding of tumour biology, immune-cell function and the mechanisms that limit antitumour responses. Creative Biolabs supports immuno-oncology and engineered cell therapy programmes with services spanning target investigation, tumour microenvironment modelling, immune functional analysis, cell engineering and preclinical evaluation.

Projects can be structured as individual studies or as coordinated programs designed around a therapeutic target, cell type or mechanism of action.

Immuno-oncology target research

A well-supported target hypothesis is essential before a therapeutic program advances to candidate development. Creative Biolabs provides target identification and validation services for tumour-associated antigens, immune checkpoints and other regulators of antitumor immunity.

Available studies include target expression analysis, pathway investigation, ligand–receptor interaction studies and cellular mechanism assays. These capabilities can help determine whether modulation of a target produces the intended immune response and identify biological factors that may affect therapeutic activity.

Tumour microenvironment modelling

The tumour microenvironment can suppress immune-cell activation, promote exhaustion and reduce treatment response. To investigate these effects, Creative Biolabs develops in vitro models incorporating tumour cells, immune cells and relevant stromal or signalling components.

Available approaches include tumour–immune cell co-culture, three-dimensional tumour spheroids, immune-cell infiltration studies and models of T-cell activation, dysfunction or exhaustion. Readouts may include cell viability, immune-cell phenotype, cytokine secretion, target expression and pathway activation. Study designs can be adapted to evaluate single agents, combination strategies and resistance mechanisms.

Immune functional assays

Functional assays provide direct evidence of how a therapeutic candidate affects immune activity. Creative Biolabs offers assays for T-cell and natural killer cell activation, proliferation, cytotoxicity and cytokine production.

Additional capabilities include antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity, complement-dependent cytotoxicity and antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis assays. These studies can support the characterisation of monoclonal antibodies, bispecific antibodies, immune checkpoint modulators and other immuno-oncology candidates.

Engineered immune cell development

Creative Biolabs provides research support for CAR-T, TCR-T, CAR-NK, CAR-macrophage and other engineered immune cell programmes. Development may begin with target selection and receptor design, followed by vector construction, cell engineering and candidate generation.

CAR design can be tailored through the selection of antigen-binding domains, hinge and transmembrane regions, costimulatory elements and intracellular signalling domains. Where appropriate, projects may also incorporate gene editing, inducible systems or safety-switch strategies.

Engineered cells can be characterised for receptor expression, phenotype, viability, proliferation and differentiation status. Functional evaluation may include antigen-dependent activation, target-cell killing, cytokine release, serial killing, persistence and exhaustion-related markers.

Preclinical evaluation

Selected immunotherapy and cell therapy candidates can progress to in vivo efficacy, pharmacology and safety-related studies. Programmes may assess tumour growth inhibition, immune-cell distribution, persistence, cytokine profiles and treatment-related biological effects.

By connecting tumour biology, immune functional analysis, cell engineering and preclinical testing, Creative Biolabs helps research teams generate coherent evidence for candidate selection and further development. Study plans, technical milestones and deliverables are defined according to the specific objectives of each research programme.
