LEWA ecodos sanitary / hygienic is an absolutely safe, economical and multi-option metering pump with mechanically actuated diaphragm. Discharge pressures of up to 20bar and flow rates from 0.4l/h to 1,500l/h per pump head are possible. The surfaces are adapted especially to hygienic production requirements.
As a leading manufacturer of pumps and pump systems, LEWA has the ability to assist you with defining a complete solution, customised to meet your process requirements. We’ll deliver systems conforming to all regulatory requirements (cGMP, GAMP, 21 CFR, etc.), supported with a full documentation package, factory acceptance testing, validation, installation and startup services.
We are best at handling projects from €25,000 to €4,000,000 and we replace the need for utilising an engineering firm. By using LEWA, you are given both technical and commercial guarantees for your process as well as an advantage in schedule compression, resulting in speed to market.
Engineered process systems
LEWA has the expertise to build engineered process systems for the following markets: fine chemical, biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, veterinary, food and beverage, vitamins, supplements, electronics and industrial cleaning. These markets all require drainable, cleanable, high purity, documented systems.
Low pulsing and low shear all-in-one pump system
LEWA intellidrive® products solve your difficult fluid processing needs, including:
- Low pulsing applications like chromatography and filtration
- High-viscosity fluids like syrups
- High-precision metering for filling operations
- Hermetically sealed for sterile processes
- Mixing two fluids in one pump head like gradient formation
- When flow parameters vary like no homogeneous qualities, varying pressure or temperature
Hygienic metering pumps
LEWA hygienic metering pumps (LEWA ecodos® and LEWA ecoflow®) meet all aseptic and sterile demands reliably and efficiently. They are hermetically tight and offer zero leakage with absolutely no shaft connection to the product area, thus ensuring contamination-free metering over long periods of time. Hygienic pumps can also be used as multiplex pumps (e.g. for recipe metering); i.e. various pumps can be assembled side-by-side on a single drive shaft.
- Continuous, proportional blending of sensitive, expensive fluids
- Exact addition of fluids in the chromatography process
- Metering of sensitive liquids, such as enzymes, vitamins or flavors
- Aseptic transfer of proteins and cells, e.g. micro-organisms or blood
- Addition of additives, such as colorants, toxic chemicals, etc.
- Injection of fluids for extrusion or spray mechanisms for the production of active ingredients and tablets
- Micro filtration and ultra-filtration
- High pressure and supercritical applications
In order to guarantee safety for your aseptic and sterile processes LEWA has tested the hygienic pumps for their cleanability according to industrial approved standards (EHEDG cleanability test and QHD test system).
Customised systems for hygienic processes – diaphragm pumps and pulseless pumps
LEWA diaphragm pumps are used by most chromatography companies. Back in the 1970s the first chromatography system using a LEWA pulseless pump for HPLC was delivered. The configurations run the range from simple metering skids for introducing micro-ingredients to complex systems for proportional blending or transfer of multiple product streams.

With our manufacturing facility in Leonberg, Germany, more than 15 centres of competence worldwide and qualified representatives and sales offices in 90 countries, we are able to respond to your fluid transfer and metering needs at any time.
LEWA production units and metering systems ensure the interaction of pump, instrumentation and accessories. We work out the proper process-related flow with our customers.
Over the last decades, the pharmaceutical industry has invested a tremendous amount of resources and capital into the development of continuous processes to improve process efficiency and robustness.
The pump piping system has to be designed carefully if positive reciprocating displacement pumps with high hydraulic power are installed.
The ultraviolet light emitting diode (UV-LED) market should reach more than $500 million in 2019 as reported by market analysis.
Lewa has been awarded a five-year global framework agreement with BP to supply chemical injection packages for BP's Global Projects Organisation.
Placing orders in the evening or on the weekend is the order of the day in small companies. Unfortunately, so are waiting for an offer to be quoted and lengthy price negotiations. To meet the needs of plant construction companies like Conaqua Wassertechnik, metering and process diaphragm pump manufacturer Lewa has now set up a Webshop.
At the end of March, Lewa-Nikkiso America acquired Integrated Process Technologies (IPT), a Massachusetts-based company specializing in the engineering, design, and manufacture of high purity process systems.
From now on, Lewa will market the progressing cavity and screw spindle pumps of Knoll Maschinenbau, allowing the company to address even more applications. Knoll will benefit from new sales channels to penetrate into entirely new markets and expand its own international presence.
Since February 1 of this year, the Pump and System Division of the Lewa-Nikkiso Group has been led by a triumvirate. The former CEO of Lewa, Bernd Stütz, already left the company at the end of 2012. On January 1, Naota Shikano took over as his successor.
Bernd M Stütz, chief executive officer of the Lewa Group, a leading manufacturing company of metering pumps and systems for complex tasks, is leaving the company at the end of 2012.
With the inauguration of the new Nikkiso Cryo Europe competence centre at LEWA S.R.L. in Milan, Italy, LEWA and its parent company NIKKISO have improved customer proximity and shortened the response cycle for cryogenic submerged motor pumps.
It seems fossil fuels will continue to be the primary energy source for decades to come. However, solutions for greenhouse gases and other accompanying problems have to be provided. LEWA and Burckhardt Compression have taken up the challenge. In the future, they will jointly manufacture systems that increase the production capacity of oil, while simultaneously decreasing the emission of ecologically harmful gases.
At the 30th Achema in Frankfurt LEWA cemented once more its position as technology leader in the field of metering and process diaphragm pumps.
The global activities of LEWA and NIKKISO keep on merging. The milestone that both companies reached on Friday, 20 July 2012, proves that. After the start of the "knock down production H-plant" at the Japanese Higashimurayama plant the first LEWA pump has been delivered to a customer.
Bayer Technology Services (BTS) is a well-known supplier of industrial chromatography products and services in the area of process technologies for the Bayer Group and for external customers.
At Achema 2012, LEWA is presenting solutions that once again highlight their technology leadership in metering pumps and process diaphragm pumps.
For 60 years now, LEWA has set technical benchmarks in diaphragm pumps and metering systems for process technology. During that time, the company has also succeeded in preserving the values of the original family business as it became an internationally oriented company.
Clearer, more informative and more appealing, from now on the internet presence of the LEWA Group comes in a new look. Visitors of www.lewa.com are offered a completely renewed structure with detailed product information, services and innovative tools.
Metering systems in process technology have the task of supplying a fluid, under specified process conditions (pressure, temperature), either in a defined amount or in a time-related flow rate, or of mixing two fluids according to specifications.
